Montgomery, Ala.
Nov 21st, 1867

Major Genl Swayne
Comdg Dist of Ala.

Sir,
Alexander Temple, cold employee, complains that his brother Aaron Temple, alias Judkins, has been unlawfully held as convict by Prison Contractors among a gang of convict laborers on the Montgomery and Selma R.R. since Nov 7th 1867. Said Alexander Temple states that his brother has been told his time was out but that his services were too valuable, and he could not be spared.

I have the honor to be.
Respectfully,
N.M. Bush
