Sir;
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of yours of the 11th inst, this moment handed to me.

Simon Culver has a perfect legal remedy. I have written to Hon M. B. Green Judge of Probate enclosing copies of your letter to me & Culver's to [[strikethrough]] you [[/strikethrough]] Genl Swayne, requesting that he will investigate & adjust the matter at once. If he is unable to do so, I will appoint counsel and direct a writ of Habeas Corpus to be sent out & the man, wife & children brought before me. Upon the hearing I will have the testimony carefully taken down, that you may examine it, should you desire.
Very Respectfully
Your Obt. Servt.
