Hawkins refused to abide by the award of the men of our own selecting - and in accordance with the Statutes of Alabama, Your Petitioner moved the Circuit Court for the award to be made the Judgment of the Court and the Same be enforced by appropriate Writs &c.  To the surprise of Petitioner the Court held that the Award came under the influence of the Stay Law now in inforce in Ala. and the same was postponed [[?]] - at the last term of the Court the said Motion came on to be heard and to the astonishment of Your Petitioner the said Hawkins filed an affidavit stating that justice would not be given him in DeKalb County & a change of Venue asked. & the said motion or cause was moved to the County of St. Clair which Court [[strikethrough]] was [[/strikethrough]] is not [[strikethrough]] heard [[/strikethrough]] until next Fall. Your Petition states that great wrong has been done him by Keeping him out of his Lands. [[strikethrough]] That Your Petition is now found to reach Law [[/strikethrough]] has but limited means, and it is uncertain when justice will be accorded to Petitioner unless through the interpretation of the Military Commander of the District.
