The State of Alabama Montgomery County Personally appeared before me L.J. Smilie a Justice of the Peace within and for said County Henry W Clark, who is also an acting Justice of the Peace for said County, and who after being duly sworn, deposes and says that at the time of the tryal and conviction in February last before him, of William Rieres (colord) on charge of vagrancy, he was entirely ignorant of the repeal of the vagrant laws, or any part thereof, of the state of Alabama; and that he did not intentionally, nor would not knowingly have inflicted any punishment upon the defendent in violation of law.
