Dist. of Ala. of date Oct 10th 1867 (rec'd October 18th 1867) I proceeded to the plantation of Mrs. Henrietta Daulk near Union Springs by private conveyance + arriving there on the 23rd inst. investigated the case, and expected an equitable settlement according to which the freedmen are to return to the plantation and finish gathering the crop according to contract and to have entire control of their share of the produce I have the honor to be Very Respectfully Yours +c W.E.
