Leighton Nov. 14th 1867

Maj. Gen. Pope
Atlanta Ga,

Dear Sir

I just wish your attention for a few moments, Henry H Russell, the man that is now contesting the election of the 44 district, was my partner in the planting business. Hee was a good union man untill he found that the Freedmen of this district ware in the minority, he then turned over upon the side of the secesh. Upon principal I oppose him, and we elected C P Summons (a good union man) Russell is defeated, he seaks redress upon myself and the freedman that are under our imploy by going to the man from whom we rented our plantation
