me to a temporary duty, I came prepared accordingly. Now, as the temporary assignment is becoming permanent, I wish to make such arrangements as the differing circumstances require.

When Mr. Buckley was here, he said that you certainly must have misapprehended the object of my application, and he felt certain upon his stating to you my situation, you will immediately give me the desired order. I have suffered considerably in comfort and health, from the lack of things which I left in Selma, under the [[strikethrough]] justification [[/strikethrough]] expectation which the terms of my order warranted. I beg you will acquaint the General with my wishes in the matter, if you still hesitate, and believe me if it were not quite important, I should not insist so strongly at this time.

Yours Respectfully
Sam S Gardner
