Dick came to my house on last Sunday night also on last night and seems very much distressed about the proceeding in church. Has told the parties, also Mr Tigh the Bapt Minister here that he would opposed their being taken from his old mistress. Mr Tigh, he says promised to help him. I advised Dick to write you about it (& have done so for him) Stating such facts, as I remember about the case, & such as he told me last Ev'g. I told him I knew you would not act hastily, or act at all unless he & his wife had a hearing before you.
If the case comes up before you, please notify Dick through me, & he will be on hand.
Suffice to say I am in no way interested in the matter. Dick is not with me this year, is on an adjoining farm. He is a hard working negro, keeps out of Town & wants those two girls raised in the Country. As to who I am, I refer you to Leak & Son, Stringfellow & Son, Centl Hotels, Trimble & Son, & M.
