Several days have passed without bringing any information in regard to the validity of the engagement of Mr. O'Connor, as clerk in this office. 
If the matter is within your control as yet, or if you can in any way relieve me from the present inconvenience, I will thank you very kindly for the favor. 
When I returned, on last Monday evening, I found Mr. King had been intoxicated, through the day. On enquiry it proved not to have been the first time.
