Camden Wilcox Co Ala Nov 1st 1867

Major General Wager Swayne
Montgomery Ala

Sir

Permit me to make a statement in regards to Col M D Wickersham.

In April 1866 I was employed by Col Wickersham and Timothy Pearson, to work on the plantation that was owned jointly by them. I done so to the best advantage I could. Both Parties were satisfied as far as I know. Mr. Pearson living on the plantation all the time. Col Wickersham moved on the plantation in August 66. They were not long together before they had some difficulties between them. I knowing Col Wickersham and Pearson falling out with everybody we had around. I took sides with Col Wickersham.

In January 1st 1867, all the employees but myself made a demand for a settlement but they were disappointed, and were told by Col Wickersham that the accounts were not made out and that Pearson had no money to pay with and that he (Wickersham) would not pay his half unless Pearson Payed his half. Col Wickersham then advised some of the Employees and Creditors to sue but atachments and tache Property and secure themselves, wich they done. I took no steps to secure myself although Col Wickersham urged me very strongly to Do so. For which I have responsible Proof. But I thought that these men are embarassed and will Pay as soon
