Richmond, Ala. May 2 1867

Gen Swayne,

Sir After apologizing for presuming to address one, with whom I have not the honor of even the slightest acquaintance, Allow me to say that approach you in the form of a supplicant not for myself, but for a boy who is now under irons for being found near a crowd, who went to the Plantation of Sam Hill near Conecuh to steal Government Cotton in the fall of 1865 The crowd had been dispersed, & all escaped & this boy named Samuel N. Kizer went up somewhere near there to see what was going on & they took him & made him amenable to the Law. His case is now in Court and there is a bond of $1000.00 & petition has been gotten up for his relief & is now in the hands of P. T. Morgan Atty At Law at Selma but nothing has been done effectually
