Union Springs Ala 26 July 67

Maj Genl Wager Swayne
Commanding Genl of HQ
Montgomery Ala

Sir
Herewith I forward a letter from Mr Ivey which has reached me since night fall. Besides this there are other signs of alarm and discontent in different sections around here.

When proper applicants are made I shall endeavor to investigate the matter, but would respectfully suggest that a small garrison here would have a good effect on the turbulent and disorderly of both colors and would quiet the fears of the law and order Covering.

Very Respectfully
Your obt servt
D.A. McCall
Probate Judge

I fully concur in the above suggestion and would advise that a small garrison be sent to this place as their is to my own knowledge much fear among the people.
