informed can only be reimbursed me in the event of the Freedmens Bureau getting possession of the Iron. This seems rather hard towards me since I supposed myself acting under such instructions, as would save me from personal pecuniary responsibility, & only advanced money upon the understanding that if the iron were not sold to me I should be reimbursed from it proceeds. I am aware that this affair has excited some talk, & I am supposed to be eager to make a much larger profit than is usually gained. I have only to say that this idea is entirely incorrect, & that I am, & have been willing to pay as high a price for the iron as any one else.

I have every reason to believe this, to be rightly, Bureau property, & would respectfully solicit for your representative to take possession of it, as being Iron claimed by the Freedmens Bureau, & not on any books as the date of suspended Order No  , since I have reason to think that the Quartermaster
over.
