Office A.A.Q.M. Montgomery Ala. April 30th 1868. Respectfully forwarded recommended; since relieving Lieut Ballantine as A.A.Q.M. at this Post, I have found Mr John D. Purcell a good clerk, he understands the papers well and has been faithful and diligent in the discharge of his duties. He is discharged only on a/c of peremptory orders from Superior authority Thos.
