I have the honor herein to make application for an appointment as Detective in this district. I have been employed as Clerk in the Q. M. Dept. at this place for the last eight months, and think that in the above position I can render the Gov. efficient service at this and other points. I was discharged by Bvt. Capt. Groves AAQM last month for reasons with which you will have been made acquainted ere this by him. In connection therewith I have the honor to state that when those Stores were taken by me, amounting to $54.00 (which I have paid for by an order on Col Edwin Beecher) I had received no pay for the 3 months preceding Jan 1st 1867.
