Your two letters of the 3d ult., in reference to the case of Taylor Skinner, did not reach me until the 2nd inst.

I have examined into the case, and respectfully report, that I have before me the warrant issued by J.W. Purifoy, Justice of the Peace, for the arrest of Taylor Skinner, as a vagrant, and also the affidavit upon which the warrant was based.

The affadavit and warrant both bear date the 7th day of February 1867. The warrant is [[strikethrough]] endorsed [[/strikethrough]] endorsed, "executed", the same day. I have also before me the appeal bond given by Taylor Skinner, this bond is dated 12th day of February 1867. The condition of the bond is that Taylor Skinner appear at the next Term of the County Court to be holden on the first Tuesday, 5th day of March next, after the date of the bond, to answer the charge of Vagrancy proferred against him by G.W. Chambers. From an endorsement on the bond it appears that the Justice of the Peace tried Taylor Skinner for Vagrancy on the
