Permit me to invite your attention to the following Extract from a letter received at this office. 

"New London, Sept. 3. 1867.
Rev. J.R. Shipherd, 29, Lombard Block. 
I received a letter from Mobile yesterday, stating that Mr. Branch has taken charge of all the Schools again and promised the colored people the same teacher that they had at the college. Whether he had done this upon his own responsibility or authorized by some Association, the lady did not know. She did not say whether he was occupying the school buildings, rented by the Bureau. I have written this because I thought you would not wish to be ignorant of Mr Branch's drugs when you send your Superintendent to Mobile, as he will probably make him all the trouble in his power. 

Of course Mr Branch acts without the knowledge or sanction of this office. His erratic course during the last six months has quite shaken our
