On the 21st Dec I submitted to Col Kinsman, then in charge of the Freedmens Bureau at this Post, the papers connected with the subject matter of this communication, An Examination on yesterday is the Bureau failed to find the papers, or any evidence that they had been forwarded to Huntsville Ala for action, the point at which action was desired in the first instance
The case in brief is this,
During the year 1867. a number of freed men & women in Peckers County Ala. near the village of Memphis in said County, were Employed by Ira W Gaines & J. B. Fisk as farm laborers for a share of his crop.
His share of the said hands amounted to twenty three bales cotton, besides corn &c
