Brvt Brig. Gen'l A. L. Shepherd
Assistant Commissioner &c

General
I have the honor to recommend, that transportation be furnished to Sarah P. Mills (freedwoman) and her daughter (7 years old) from Selma to Baltimore Md, where her husband awaits her. She came to this office with a letter of recommendation from C. W. Pierce Sub. Asst. Comm'r at Demopolis, who represents her as worthy of assistance. She is without means, and would have to be supported at government expense.

I am General
Very Respectfully
