Sir I have the honor to submit the following facts.
The buildings known as the "Wayside Hospital" were turned over to this Bureau, for its sole occupancy, the documents therefor being in my possession, a reservation was made as a request, not as a condition that the families of the former matrons might remain on the premises, and also that a certain Barber might continue to occupy an apartment on the ground that he was the Headquarters barber. It became necessary for us to use the room if occupied by the barber, and I was about to eject him, when he offered to pay the rent of a room in Florence Hotel, for the accommodation of our Quartermaster, whom I had designed placing in his apartment.
