Marshall of the 1st Division has summoned the barber before him and compelled him to pay fifteen dollars for the rent of his room. He has also rented another apartment which I had just had cleaned up preparatory to using it for the purposes of the Bureau, and that in the face of my protest. The barber has properly receded from his engagement to pay the rent for our Quartermaster's room, and we are compelled to postpone the establishment of an employment office, very much needed, by the occupancy of the other room. In view of these facts, I would respectfully request that the rents received for rooms in the "Wayside Hospital" be repaid to this Bureau [[strikethrough]]for[[/strikethrough]] to be used for payment of rents incurred through the forced occupancy of its own premises.
Very Respectfully
