Montgomery, Ala, January 30th, 1868

Major General O.O. Howard
Commissioner &c.

General:
I have the honor to request the revocation of the appointment of Mr C.C. Bartlett as Clerk, and his appointment as Sub Asst Comm'r at a salary of One hundred and fifty dollars ($150.) per month - revocation and appointment to date from the 15th Jany 1868. Mr Bartlett is now acting as Sub Asst Comr of the Bureau at Selma Ala and has under his charge a large amount of Government property - He is a man of good general intelligence, and his long acquaintance with the rulings of the Bureau in his Sub District makes his continuance there very desirable.
Very Respectfully
Your Ob't Servant
