Head-Quarters Sub-District of Northern Alabama,
Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
HUNTSVILLE, ALA., Feby 3rd 1868.

Bvt Maj. Geo: Shorkley,
Actg Asst Adjt. Gen'l,
Montgomery Ala.,

Major:
The paper setting forth the fraud of one Fisk, in Pickens Co., and asking that he be arrested if found, came into my possession on assuming the office of Sub-Asst Com'r. Careful inquiry was made for him, and he was found, preparing to make a crop in this county; whereupon Messrs Jas. A & Sidney G. Coleman, Attys, at Memphis, Pickens Co. were notified that any civil officer authorized to arrest the offender, would on application to this office, receive information enabling him to do so; and that aid would be furnished if required. Fitch is not aware that any inquiry has been made for him.
