Demopolis Sept. 1st 1868
Edwin Beecher. Bt. Lt Col. V.R.C.

Sir
In relation to that portion of your letter of the 27. ult. which treats of the murderer Zachariah Williams. I acted under the impression derived from the statement of negroes that the Mississippi where he was concealed was some Precinct in Sumter Co, until I was set right by Mr Stelzig.
Shall anything further be done in the matter of getting up a requisition for his arrest in the State of Mississippi.
I have been unofficially informed that the Sheriff of Chocktaw Co. the only one in my five counties has been driven out, ostensibly because he was a Northern man. But most likely [[strikethrough]] because [[/strikethrough]] to prevent the execution of attachments.
I most earnestly beg that there may be a Bureau Agent stationed in Chocktaw Co. when the colored people are most cruelly oppressed
Your Respectfully
R A Wilson
