Complains that O McLansen did about the 1st of Sept 67 take his gun to Lewis house on McLansen plantation and then assault his Lewis wife with his gun saying he would blow her brains out if she gave James or her daughter Mary any thing to eat. That at the same time and place Owen McLansen assaulted him with his gun. Also that O McLansen often carries his gun to his Lewis house on Sunday and work days, and then uses threats &c Lewis asks that he may be allowd to leave there as he is afraid his life will be taken if he remains. | Referd case to Peter McRae with request that he report his action to this office |

Oct 1st 67 Complains that on Monday Sept 23 while he was remonstrating with Peter in regard to wearing a pr of boots his Peters stepson had stolen from him. Peter became very insolent and went towards one of the houses asking in a loud voice if Bennys gun was there. That Peter went & got the gun and returned to where he was standing when he asked him  | Rept Oct 11th 67 Col Cogswell Excessive abuse.  No action taken as Peter Mason has left this vicinity-- These men were in a dispute when Peter Mason got a gun and then became very abusive |

Oct 5th 1867 Complains that he rented a piece of land of T Garrett 1 1/4 ac-- cotton & 3 acres of corn on which he was to have all he made by working for T Garrett during the year 1867 That Mr Garrett now order him of his plantation says if he is not gon by Monday Oct 7th he will shoot him. |   |

Also to give 2 suits of clothes & one pr shoes. That John recvd one suit of clothes and 20# Bacon at 2 p pr lb That John worked seven months when he drove him off for the reason that he would not work to suit him. |   |
