My Dear Friend.

I Received a card from the wells fargo co last night saying that there was a box for me at the office, so I went up this evening and got the box. I almost knew what was In it. when I cam [came] home I found your letter In my mail box.    grace, I am so Delighted. so Pleased. I Dont[Don't] know what to do with myself. I Appreciate it very much. its just the thing grace to kill them little redheaded birds. Il [I'll] be careful with it. I know how to handle those little things. 
got don [done] picking hops yesterday and moved back up the hill this morning. I am here allone [alone], me and mary, every body is gone to sonoma co. but I think they will be back about next week. I heard the work was short down there.
