Shoshonean family
    Location:
    Kern County, California, and about Tejon Pass
    Materials: 
    Regular Kern material in coil bundle of yellow grass stems -
white is split cadium root - black is bracken or brake -  red is split branches 
of red bud with bark on, gathered after fall rains.

[[underline]] PANAMINT. [[/underline]]
Shoshonean family.
          
         Location:
Death Valley, and Inyo County, California.
              Materials:
              Year old shoots of tough willow (salix lasiandra).
              Year old shoots of aromatic sumac (rhus-
trilobata).
Black - the devil horn (martynia - louisana
Red is the root of the tree yucca (yucca- arboresoeus).
In some of the finest baskets we find root marsh bulrush (scirpus) buried in wood 
ashes that assume shades from blackish brown to purplish black.

[[underline]] MODOCS and KLAMATHS. [[/underline]]
Modocs are of the Lutuamian family.
       Location:
       Klamath Agency, Oregon, and east of Shasta, California,
north to Goose Lake Valley.
    
       Materials:
       Foundation - cat-tail flag decorated with grasses and at times, quill. The glassy material is wild rye. Brown and yellow, the tule. Dark red is the root of the tule. Black is the same, only dyed in the mud springs.

Washo are of the Washcan family.

Location:
Western Nevada near Reno, Carson City, Wadswroth, Genoa, Gardenville, and Franktown.

Materials:
Willow(salix).
Red - red bud.
