the hall is getting his PhD in soil science! He will help, for a price. This afternoon I will do a big chunk of the work, having nothing else to do for a change. The rate is 1cent/word and I ought to get about $10/week if they supply me as fast as I do it. There is no locally available dictionary with all the terms I need, unfortunately, but I am scouring the book-sellers.

Ransacking for other X-mas things we need: I could use a pie-carrying pan & another double-bed sheet; Jack might like some nuts (in shells) and a short-sleeved shirt to wear in his laboratory (which is very hot).

We hope Lois got her antifreeze in time - - looks as if she might not have, if it was 24 degrees. Luckily we don't use any. The car went thru its last trip alright except that the cable operating the heater froze and so did we! We did return on Friday, the roads weren't bad. We just got the Lipkins to a train on time (because it was late!).
