get a chance to finish my knitting there, perhaps: I've been making collar & cuffs to replace worn ones on a sweater, & they will be very jolly: red & gray stripes against the black sweater.

It's amazing that you still have lettuce. Here, with much inclement (tho' no snow lately) weather all nature outside seems flattened. Our aquarium contents from Crystal Lake live on & on. The population varies from day to day & I wish I had time to study the cycle it must be making. One day there are hundreds of shrimps, busy eating worms; then, hardly any, and many large [[strikethrough]] daphani [[/strikethrough]] daphnia and copepods, also worms increase (two kinds: transparent, slow ones and baggy fast ones that locomote like inchworms); then shrimp again. Behind this shift the large snails go calmly on laying eggs, tiny snails keep emerging. We haven't touched the aquarium for a month, but it looks as if it will go on for some time yet.

Well, I have worn out 1 1/2 cartridge writing in the past few days and guess I should get some work done!

In the event that we don't have a chance to write again before Christmas (too likely!) I hope you have a very nice Christmas. I wish we could all be together then!

Love,
Doris
