Miss S. H. Smiley;

Dear Friend:

In arranging the school work for the coming year, it is very desirable to know soon who will be responsible for the maintenance of the necessary schools for the accommodation of the lower end of this city, say below 23rd or 24th St. (Embracing Church & Union Hills, Chimborage & Rocketts) You gave me encouragement in this direction, for I am not quite sure of the extent of the work you are prepared to do. I suppose that six teachers would be necessary. Maj. Felt has gone to Mass and I have moved up town. The house either of us lived in could be rented for $400. I think, if you desired.

Very Respy
