I extract the following from a communication from John O. O'Neill Asst. Sup (Bureau) at Abingdon. "The freedmen of this town have built a school house for their own use. It is all completed with benches desks and blackboard, and capable of containing from 80 to 90 pupils, which number can readily be got here for a day school, if they could only get teachers. I would recommend that two colored teachers be sent at once. They can find board at 200 yards from the school house at $12. per month. The friends of the school will furnish fuel &c &c." The sup of the Dist. strongly enforces this recommendation. It is a strong case, and there are many there[[?]] like it. Colored teachers are required for the county. Can you meet this demand?
