Dec. 29 66

Cap. D.J. Connolly
Asst. Sup.

Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the rest of your comm of yesterday.

Before approving applications for aid in providing school houses, it is a necessary prerequisite to know by whom the teachers are to be supported, what provision can be made for their board &c – Your application for aid was detained to ascertain these facts. Our funds are getting short. I have recommended, in an endorsement of your paper, the appropriation ∴ of $45. provided the local friends furnish whatever else is necessary. Of course I do not know what the fate of my recommendation will be, but you will know soon

Very Truly
Your &c
