Cap. C. S. Schaeffer
A.S.A. Com'r

Dear Sir:

Yours of the 23d Recd -- Newburn and Blacksburg, to best of my knowledge are not provided for. By all means turn the attention of the Friends Soc. to the most important places. The Bureau will pay rent wherever a school can be established.

If any half educated colored persons, residents of localities where schools are needed can be put to teaching and obtain support from the neighborhood, the Bureau will rent a room for the School;--of course the school must really amount to something.

Very Respy---
