[[?]] of work in one of these families for the vacation. I have not learned that she found any trouble, only she was lonely, not having any society beyond the family. I believe a teacher would be kindly and considerately treated and promptly paid, but as I have no personal acquaintance with the Woods, I have preferred to state the case as I understand it, that I might act understandingly.

I know two of the Col s. sons, and they are modest and gentlemanly in manners--

P. S. One remark in your letter I do not understand. You say: "If you know him [Mr. Woods] and can endorse him will you forward my letter." I do not know what letter you allude to. There was none enclosed.
