Dear Sir,
Understanding that you are the executive officer of the society which has been supporting some teachers in The Freedmens schools in Alexandria, I address you for the purpose of ascertaining how much you propose to do for those schools the coming school year. The Freedmens Union Commission will occupy but one of the two large buildings. I should be very glad if you would fully occupy the other, which has eight fine school rooms. Please inform me at your earliest convenience how many teachers you will send. It will be a sad thing to turn into the streets some hundreds of children who have hitherto been in school.
Very Respy
