Miss Harriet E. Preston

You were correct in sending all your papers to me. You may continue to do so. I am sorry to hear of your illness- hope it has entirely passed away.
I understand from N.Y. that you are to receive the much talked of allowance of $10 per month from Genl. Howards office. In view of this the rent on your house is reduced to $20.

Dr. Sears writes me that I must curtail in my payments as he cannot furnish the amount originally promised. I enclose $10 and hope you will bring your school down to that average (40) or not much above it, if you can. You doing too much work.
Very Truly Yours &c
R.M. Manly
