Miss Sarah A. Goodyear

I thank you for the interesting account you sent me of your school, and assure you that your sacrifices and services as well as those of other ladies in the "Northern Neck" are appreciated. I desire but hardly hope to visit those schools to present year. Efforts are being made to have you commissioned by the N.Y. Society of friends, so that you may receive aid from that source.

I had a letter. from Dr. Sears yesterday, saying that his disbursements are to be considerably reduced in the future, and as a consequence I am obliged to reduce my promised aid in many cases. I enclose $10. for Jan. hoping that that little will be of some service.
