Revd. C. Robinson
Alexandria, Va.
Sir,
Your favor of 26th ult. was duly received. From enquiries we have made in regard to the matter of "a school at Crooked Run, it appears that the building is under way, and is on land presented by Mr. Franklin Hudson, who is represented as willing to make a deed of it for school purposes.
Before any assistance can be rendered by this Bureau it will be necessary to have the land deeded to from 3 to 5 Trustees. (Form of Deed enclosed). When Trustees are ready to enter into a contract to complete the building for $160.00, that amount will be appropriated. Some of the Trustees must be pecuniarily responsible, as well as men of intelligence and business habits.
These requirements are in accordance with instructions from Washington, and applicable to all cases.
