Yours of the 10th inst is rec'd.

There are not funds at my control now for the establishment of new schools. I am sorry if there are so many children [[strikethrough]] scholars [[/strikethrough]] as you say without schools, but it is too late to provide for them this spring. Unless you can get some society to aid you.

I do not know any remedy for the case you present, unless Mrs. Lowell will furnish it. You might write to her and ascertain. The only help the Bureau can give is $10 per month to which probably I could add $5 from the Peabody Fund. That is all I can control or get sight of - and that does not board and salary a teacher.

Very Respy

P.S. The above is what I'd do now. Whether I can do it a month hence will need to be ascertained
