Rev. R. M. Manly
Dear Sir
I have secured the signature of Mr. River to the deeds today - and have forwarded them to Pvt. Rogers, in Philadelphia, for his, requesting him to return them to you.
Our state laws require that an acknowledgement shall be made before a Justice or Notary in order to admit the deed to records. It will therefore have to be returned to Genl. Howard for acknowledgement. I beg to enquire whether proper care was exercised to ascertain if the title had been transferred to Mr Cabell from Genl Locke's representation, or his estate?
That can be ascertained from our records, but it were well that this be done before payment in full is made.
Very Respy
A. P. Abell
