Sir,

In answer to your request of the 17 inst. I am happy to State that many of the Col. men discharged for voting the Republican Ticket have been employed again by those persons who discharged them. There are some in a destitute condition I would call the attention of the Gov. to Anthony Hill laborer discharged the morning after the Election by the order of F.M. Ironmonger Agent of the Norfolk and Petersburg R.R. his wife is near confinement Suffering for want of food Mr. Hill is now making and effort to obtain work in the Navy Yard Portsmouth VA.
