Freedmen's School
Warrenton Va May 20, 1869

R.M. Manly Esq

Dear Sir
We have seen your letter and a copy of the Deed which you have sent to Henry Williams who is one of the trustees of the lot on which the School House A public meeting is to be called on Tuesday evening next to listen to the terms of transfer

For some time there has been a misunderstanding between the Baptist society using this house and the school This Church society claims that they have a right to the lot on which the house stands, and I look for nothing but frequent trouble unless you send a letter to the school, defining its right, and the privilege which the Church has to this building Henry Williams is a trustee of the lot, but since I have been teaching here he has done more to hinder the progress of the school than he has to give it countenance. He was one of the the first to support a rebel who attempted to teach another school of colored children I therefore hope that you will send such instructions to us that we may read them to the public meeting on next Tuesday evening the 25. inst.
