FRIENDS
FREEDMEN ASSOCIATION
PHILADELPHIA
10 NORTH 4th St.

7 m. 8th 1869.

R.M. Manly, Supt Education
Richmond, Va.

In conformity with instructions rec'd from Washington the enclosed schedule is sent to the Bureau through thee instead of direct to Gen. Howard as has been the practice. The Association greatly needs every available assistance to enable its Exec. Board to carry on their work and they trust that this application may be seconded by thy recommendation.
A loss of $80 per mo. is sustained by the fact that the building at Danville occupied by our school is owned by the Bureau, [] & for this reason excluded from the schedule.[] 8 teachers are employed at this point and the attendance is large.

Respectfully
M.E Shearman. Act.
