Orange Co. Hq., Va.
July 20th 1869.

R.M. Manly
Supt Edc +c

Dear Sir:
The writer of my letter addressed to Gene. Howard did not inform you correctly if he says I have given the land up to this time. What I desire is rent from 1st July 1868 to 1st July 1869. The School house occupies 64 ft. front running back 21 ft.
I think sixty dollars a year would be a reasonable ground-rent, as it occupies 21 ft of my garden.
I have given the house free for 2 years previous to 1st July 1868.
Very Respectfully
Yr obt Servant
Walter J Jones
