War Department,
Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands,
Washington, D.C., July 31st, 1869.

By the direction of the Secretary of War, Mr James M. Wayt, is hereby appointed a Clerk in the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands, State of Virginia, at a salary of Eighty ($80) Dollars per month.
This appointment is made under the provisions of "An Act to continue in force and amend an Act to establish a Bureau for the relief of Freedmen and Refugees, and for other purposes." It will take effect Augt. 1st, 1869 and remain in force until revoked by orders from this Office.
The oath required by law will be taken, and filed in the office of the Commissioner.
