WAR DEPARTMENT,
BUREAU OF REFUGEES, FREEDMEN, AND ABANDONED LANDS,
OFFICE GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT SCHOOLS,
Washington, D.C., Sept. 3rd, 1869.

Dear Sir:
May I call your special attention to the marked paragraph in the enclosed circular? Our State Superintendents are asking for "the name of each teacher employed, the locality to which they are sent, and also that each be required, by their respective societies, to send a personal report to the Bureau Superintendent upon arriving at their stations, and monthly reports thereafter; and to be particularly punctual in rendering the same."
Can you give such instructions, and much oblige
Yours, &c.,
Very respectfully,
J.W. Alvord
Gen'l Supt. Education.
