Dear Sir this is to acknowledge receipt of your communication also a copy of the New Era I must say in reply that I shall do my best towards gifting subscribers to your paper it is a fine paper it makes me feel proud from the bottom of my heart to see such a good paper you shall always have my best wishes may you always prosper in defending our just and glorious cause although I am in a strange city without employment I shall put my trust in god & ask his protection I simply relate to you the facts concerning my situation I have been teaching a Freedman school for 12 months and was compelled to stop on the 14th of Jan on account of not having a home the place that I rented on last year the Rebels underminded me and rented so left me destitute of a home
