Dear folks, 

Well, the prelim business is all over, and, as is usual with such crises, [[strikethrough]]is[[/strikethrough]] soon seems to have been less important. We will probably give a prelim party in a week or two, though.

The Festival of Contemporary Arts, which takes place every two years, occurs about now. We are going to several events of it this week - a play Thursday, some movies tonight - things done by artists collected here for the festival.

While in Chicago we went with some friends to the aquarium, my second trip. We saw a crawfish eating another one alive, something we'd always known our crawfish Lebedek did, but had never caught him doing: he would clean them up very fast, at night. I found out recently that "lebedek" means "little swan" in Russian, so perhaps it was not such an appropriate name: They have magnificent lake
