Dear Mother,

Algeria is apparently not very calm yet, with 3 generals of the 4 still at large, but I guess it's only a matter of time. There is no longer any excitement here. Many reservists were called up, but I suppose that those orders were cancelled. We did not see any mobilization.

As for Yellow fever, that is a fantastic idea! We are hardly Africa or Guatemala! There are hardly any mosquitoes here and certainly no yellow fever! If we should travel to North Africa, of course we would be inoculated. Those inoculations last only about 4 weeks so you take them just before leaving; & they probably are not very pleasant.

Our friend Eric's German wife had typhoid right after the war; it killed her brother and almost killed her. The Germans had no antibiotics, inoculations or even pain killers for the poor victims at that time. 

I suppose that we have some fish like shad; we saw them by the Rhine one
