June 12th 1867 General Orders } No 8 } The growing lawlessness of the people of Shelby County, and the impression apparently prevailing there, that the County Officers have not the Confidence and support of the Military Authority, makes it necessary to announce that the execution of the laws of this state will be fully sustained, and that upon demand of those Officers, a mounted force will be sent to summarily arrest, and punish all offenders. and take notice of matters which have not heretofore been dealt with by the Civil Courts.
